As Executive Officer (EO), Lisa is responsible for overseeing the day to day management of BREAZE. The EO position involves supporting the BREAZE committee, staff, volunteers and members to achieve our strategic objectives. This includes business planning, project development and project management and seeking grants and other funds to implement projects and activities.

Lisa is an experienced sustainability and planning professional, with particular experience in the areas of environmental planning, natural resource management and community development. Lisa has worked in the not-for-profit sector, local government and for the past 8 years has run a small environmental consulting business, and has worked on a number of significant local sustainability projects including the City of Ballarat's Sustainability Strategy. She has been a member of the City's Conservation Committee and Blueprint Ballarat and was also one of the founding members of her local landcare group. Together with her partner and two sons, Lisa lives on a rural property that is self sufficient with renewable energy, and she is passionate about biodiversity protection and growing her own food.

Lisa has recently trained as an Al Gore Community Climate Presenter. If you are interested in a presentation to your community group or organisation about climate change, please get in touch.

David's niche is office management - he's worked in both the private and public sector for the last six and a half years. He recently traded the Melbourne commute join the team at BREAZE and create some order about the office (heaven knows we needed it!).

David is committed to living in and working toward a sustainable environment. He's enjoying his new found role closer to home (Snake Valley), where he lives on a self-sufficient property (off the grid, PV & Wind system). Water is supplied from rain-water tanks and 2 dams. David is kept busy with 3 daughters, 10 chooks, an apple orchard and a veggie garden. He enjoys his sports, and the staff at BREAZE are waiting to taste the results of his other passion, beer brewing!

Chris Pollock - Volunteer Support Coordinator

Chris has a background in the Landcare movement where she was employed by the North Central Catchment Management Authority as the Bendigo and District Landcare Coordinator. She then moved to the corresponding role in the Shires of Mount Alexander and Macedon Ranges. In 2008 Chris was contracted to the Central Highlands Primary Care Partnership as Drought and Climate Change Coordinator. She is an active volunteer in her own community near Maryborough and feels privileged to be able to offer support to the many members of BREAZE who have offered their assistance.

As Chris is employed for two days per week, she can generally be found in the office on a Monday, other days as needed.  Please contact her if you have any specific wishes regarding your time with BREAZE, she checks her email regularly.

Mel Woolcock - Communications & Design

T: (03) 5329 1730  E: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

A graphic designer by trade, Mel Woolcock is a Ballarat girl and was one of BREAZE's first members. She was on the inaugural committee, created the BREAZE brand and worked with the Community Engagement & Education Group (she's still gobsmacked by the growth of BREAZE). A gazillion posters and flyers later, Mel is happily employed 3 days per week with her favourite Climate Action Group and takes care of web content (not the tech stuff, that's Jill's domain!), newsletters, communications, graphic design and various activities and events. She's excited to be using her skills for the good of the planet, instead of driving the consumption of unnecessary evils - as is often the role of the deisgner.

Mel has been plodding away retrofitting suburban home and is a proud participant in BREAZE's Solar Electricity and Solar Hot Water Bulk Buy programs. She's filled her backyard with fruit trees, herbs, vegetables, a water tank and some crazy sculptures created from bits and pieces rescued from landfill.

Simon Reid - Solar Electricity

Simon is employed by BREAZE to administer bulk buys for Solar Electricity and Solar Hot Water. He also volunteers as an organizer of the All Seasons Permaculture Design Course. Simon is very interested in Permaculture and ecological approaches to sustainable food production.

He moved to Gordon from Melbourne as the first stop on a planned woofing tour of sustainable Permaculture farms across Australia... until he stumbled upon BREAZE. Simon was so excited by the good work and wonderful people he discovered that he never made it past the first stop.

Meredith Alexander - Solar Electricity Admin

Meredith helps out with the adminstration side of the BREAZE solar project and provides valuable support to Simon, Nick and all of the BREAZE members who have jumped on board the renewable train.

Originally from North Eastern Victoria, Merry moved to Melbourne to study. She has worked in administration roles for various organisations, including a merchant bank, a football club and a church and has also taught maths, science and pre-driver education in both Melbourne and Ballarat. A keen local foodie, Merry is enjoying BREAZE’s All Seasons Permaculture Design Course.

When she's not tending to her garden or enjoying local biodiversity, you'll find Merry dancing (ballroom, swing and 50s rock & roll dance), snorkelling,   or volunteering with Australian Breastfeeding Association’s national helpline – to assist families make informed choices about infant feeding (and help reduce impacts on the environment). And, Merry has two teenage daughters!

Jill Clarke - Web Admin

E: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Jill is responsible for the technical workings of the web site and she works closely with the Communications Coordinator, Mel Woolcock to ensure that the content and the function work hand in hand. The design and functionality is a work in progress due to the content growing like Topsy and the web workers running along behind trying to bash it into some comprehensible format!

The other work behind the scenes is keeping all the software that runs on the web site up to date as newer, better and often more secure versions become available. The major software is the Content Management System, Joomla, and its many and varied extensions (member managment, the calendar, newsletters, document manager, photo gallery, forum, advertisment manager, forms and backup - and that's not all of 'em!)

Jill's background is IT and after doing the corporate thing pre children, she began writing web site code the long way as a way to keep learning while home raising a family. Volunteering to build the web site for the local kindergarten was one of the first projects, and as with BREAZE, the volunteer work turned into small paid projects, but her main work is still the family!

That family consists of one husband, two teenagers, two dogs, two cats and recently three chickens. The chickens are part of the plan to grow food at Buninyong, and the family home was built in 2006 taking advantage of solar passive design and including solar electricity, solar hot water, tank water storage and a grey water recycling system.

Other volunteer work is with Buninyong's Friends of Royal Park and the Buninyong Community Garden, and Buninet.

Not suprisingly, Jill is an active member of BREAZEs Local Food action group.
