Candlelight vigil for the Reef

candlelight vigilTime: 17:00 Friday the 22nd June
Wear: White or Tropical
Meet: Bridge Mall, Ballarat, Sturt Street end.
Walk: To Lydiard Rotunda
Stop Adani

On mid-winter evening, we will gather at the Bridge Mall, near the intersection with Sturt Street. There we will have some speakers and some music.  There will be pamphlets to hand out and a petition to sign. People of Ballarat need to understand what is at stake if the Adani coal project should ever be allowed to proceed, not just for us, but for future generations.

From there we will process to the Sturt Street Rotunda with our candles. We will pause for a reflection on all that we will lose if we fail to get a grip on the #ClimateEmergency - not the least of which is a healthy Great Barrier Reef.

Wear white, to symbolize the bleaching coral, or tropical colours to symbolize your hope for the future. BYO candles, or some will also be provided. Bring your kids, bring your dogs, bring your placards.

Dress warmly! Anyone wants to get involved to help organise, recommend some speakers, please get in touch.
