 Ian Rossiter

President – Ian Rossiter in his fourth year as a board member following retirement from his local government career. His interests include horticulture, waste reduction, bioenergy and sustainable local food production.

Vice President – Tarn Kruger is in her second year as a board member. Tarn has worked as a teacher, delivered education programs at the Creswick Landcare Centre and recently completed a PhD, which explored the dilemmas and risks for firefighters and the importance of local knowledge in bushfire response. Tarn has taken on a role with Rene de Jong coordinating the Smart Living Market registrations, volunteer rosters and logistics

 Paul Duggan

Paul Duggan – now in his third year as a board member, Paul is  has significant skills and experience in information technology.    He has involved in updating the web site and will be taking a much more active role in publicity in 2017.


Treasurer – Peter Reid – now in his third year as a board member, Peter is a communications engineer with a wealth of experience in not for profit boards. Peter has been instrumental in the development of Breaze’s Social Solar project and is interested in technology associated with energy generation, distribution and storage and sustainable transport.

Peter joined BREAZE because he believes that sustainable communities are needed to ensure that future generations have the same advantages that his generation enjoyed.
Peter has been an engineer for over 40 years and has seen the rise of information technology and communications (ITC).  Peter believes that the intelligent use of ITC can facilitate the transition to a sustainable future.  He is interested in the “smart grid” and how distributed energy sources e.g. solar, wind etc. can wean our society off carbon based fuels.

 Rene de Jong

Rene DeJong Rene has been a member of Breaze since its inception. He manages potato and vegetable genetics for Elders and hence understands agriculture and has some business skills. As an empty nester in Buninyong, Rene has just gone “organic” in his vegie patch. Rene and his partner Jennie are maintaining their (approx) 7 star rated house, which they built 17 years ago. Despite its age, their home puts most new houses to shame when it comes to green credentials, but they keep looking at ways to improve its energy use. Rene intends to enhance the effectiveness of Breaze to achieve its aim of zero emissions by 2020.


Celeste Hevey – returning Board member, has a diverse background which includes geoscience, education, including environmental education, environmental management, and is currently studying building design. Celeste has a real interest in sustainable building design and is looking forward to assisting BREAZE to deliver information in the area.   She successfully coordinated the Sustainable House Day in 2016.

Simon Reid – now in his third year as a board member, Simon is well known to most members through his passionate involvement in many BREAZE initiatives since formation and his role as Director of Breaze Energy Solutions.
