Vale Rachel Browning

Rachel BrowningOn the 17th of August, some members of our BREAZE community heard the awful news that our friend Rachel Browning had died the day before.  We are in shock, and so, so sad.

BREAZE sends condolences to all Rachel's friends and family.

Rachel worked with BREAZE, as general and financial admin support when we were big enough to have an office. Everyone who worked with her was impressed by her work, her helpful nature and how warm, passionate, and incredibly patient she was.

When the office closed, and later when the family moved away from Ballarat for Tim's work, Rachel continued to support us as a volunteer, by helping with admin tasks, and the social media presence of the Farmer's market when it started up as the Smart Living Market.

More details, and go-fund-me information below.

ABA Rachel BrowningIn  Ballarat, it was not just BREAZE that was helped by Rachel. She gave endlessly to the community, including 13 years of volunteering with the Australian Breastfeeding Association. Her work with the Australian Breastfeeding Association ranged from being a breastfeeding counselor, community educator and doing further study so that she could be even more help to the trainee counselors who volunteer, and also behind the scenes work such as leading group meetings in Ballarat, branch treasurer, regional rep and took part in lots of different projects for the ABA. Rachel also volunteered for Operation Move and Motivating Mums.

Rachel Browning was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2016 after a routine self-check.  She took action straightaway and went through Chemotherapy followed by surgery in March 2017, then followed by radiation.  In the middle of June 2017, Rachel was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in the brain.  The week before her death, the tumours and swelling in her brain took over and her body simply couldn't win that fight anymore.

Rachel's family is Tim, her loving husband, and her boys, Liam (13), Soren (8) and Lindsay (4).  Rachel's Australian Breastfeeding Association friends have set up a "GoFundMe" page, if you feel you would like to give a helping hand to the family:

We (her ABA friends) wanted to set up this GoFundMe page to help Tim and her boys to get their lives in order.  A lot of people have wanted to show their support by offering to cook, clean and run errands.  But the time when this is most needed is when Tim and the boys have to move forward in their lives and Tim has to go back to work and will need help with the daily grind of taking care of their boys and the household.

Tim Fish and Rachel BrowningThese funds will go towards moving forward in their lives to take part in their school activities, funding their schooling and taking care of the household.

We love our friend Rachel and will miss her dearly and hoping that we can give back to her family the way she gave to us.
