Can You Help Woodend Primary School Go Solar ?

The school is also investing money from its Building Fund.

WPS has previously applied unsuccessfully for several government grants for solar panels.

‘Our students’ families and the wider community are providing tremendous assistance with our Here Comes the Sun campaign. We are fortunate to have such a supportive community around our school,’ said WPS Principal, Andy Kozak.

‘By going solar, we lower our greenhouse gas emissions, thereby reducing global warming. Our power bills also reduce, so for decades to come, our school will use the savings to enhance our facilities and resources – a wonderful legacy!’

When complete, the solar energy system - spread over three roofs - will generate most of the electricity the school uses in daytime.

WPS is currently seeking sponsors to help make Stage2 of Here Comes the Sun a reality.

‘If your business, organisation or family donates $275 – enough for one solar panel - or more, your outstanding support will be commemorated on a permanent sponsors’ plaque at the school,’ Mr Kozak said.

‘Any donation to the cause will be gratefully received, because every little bit helps. Donations are tax-deductible.’

If you can help, please contact Andy Kozak: T. 03 5427 2455.
