Home Energy Efficiency Workshops

From 24 July - 11 September, the Ballarat Zero Emissions Alliance (BZEA), of which BREAZE is a member, ran six workshops, free to everyone, but aimed particularly at helping vulnerable residents and low income households, to make their homes more thermally efficient.
Funded by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), the workshops were led by accredited Victorian Energy Scorecard assessors, Dale Boucher and Tim Drylie. Content covered cheap fixes, energy efficient appliances and government rebates and subsidy schemes.

A final Review session at Barkly Square was attended by Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson and other council staff, three DEECA staff, Janene Trickey, Regional Manager, Grampians Community and Partnership Programs, Annie Ryan, Senior Community and Partnerships Program Officer, Energy, Grampians, and Amelia Penhall, Communications Officer. Workshop participants discussed the benefits of the workshop and changes they had made since or were planning to make to their homes to make them more energy efficient - the consensus being that the workshops were very helpful.

The workshops were part of a pilot, with a longer program planned for 2024 and beyond, which will now be funded via the City Partnership Program with City of Ballarat. Watch out for updates on these on the BREAZE Inc. Facebook page.
