Ballarat Repair Cafe

Got a broken item that needs fixing?

Bring it along to Ballarat Repair Cafe. We are a volunteer run organisation that aims to fix as many broken items as possible (FOR FREE) in order to keep them out of landfill for longer. As well as saving you money as you won’t need to buy a replacement.

When we are open

We run on the last Saturday of every month (excluding December) from 1-4pm at Barkly Square (25 - 39 Barkly St, Ballarat East VIC 3350).

Come by, register your item and stay for a cuppa while you wait for it to be repaired.

You can find specific dates via the BREAZE events page HERE

Since starting in 2019, Ballarat Repair Cafe has been able to save over 2,000 kg’s of broken items from ending up in landfill

What we can repair

Our volunteers have a wide range of skills, meaning we are able to repair a wide variety of items.

Our moto is “if you can carry it to us - we will take a look at it.”

If for some reason our volunteers can’t fix your item, they will offer additional advice on the next steps you can take to have it fixed.

Additional Information

  • 1: Clean the item - Sometimes a broken item just needs a good clean and it’s good to go. But if it’s still broken, cleaning it before hand helps our volunteers determine what is wrong a lot faster.

2: Bring all components - For example if you bring a sewing machine bring the foot peddle and toolbox. If you bring a stereo bring the speakers. This way our volunteers can test all components related to the broken item and properly test it to ensure its fixed.

3: Enjoy a cuppa - Staying close by at our popup cafe and enjoying a cuppa while you wait is very helpful for our volunteers. That way if they have any questions related to your item while they repair it they can come and ask.
